Introduction
At FABA drama, we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where children and young people aged 7–18 can thrive creatively and socially. The safety and wellbeing of all students is our highest priority.

Our Commitment
We aim to:

Promote the welfare of every child and young person in our care

Protect them from harm, abuse, or neglect

Respond swiftly and effectively to any safeguarding concerns

Provide staff with training to understand and carry out their safeguarding responsibilities

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

Staff Responsibility & Vetting

All staff and volunteers working with children undergo enhanced DBS checks

Safeguarding training is completed regularly

Staff are expected to follow our safeguarding code of conduct at all times

Our staff and volunteers will:

Prioritise child safety and wellbeing

Treat all students fairly and with respect

Maintain appropriate boundaries and avoid behaviour that could be misinterpreted

Report concerns promptly to the DSL

Student Wellbeing & Online Safety

Classes are designed to foster confidence, creativity, and emotional safety

Online sessions, if applicable, are conducted on secure platforms and monitored appropriately

We educate students about appropriate conduct, boundaries, and speaking up if something makes them feel uncomfortable

Reporting & Responding to Concerns
We encourage students, parents, and staff to speak up about any safeguarding issues. All concerns will be:

Taken seriously

Handled confidentially, unless sharing information is essential for safeguarding

Referred to external agencies when necessary in line with statutory guidance

Confidentiality
We treat safeguarding information with the utmost sensitivity and will only share details when it's necessary to protect a child’s wellbeing.

This policy is reviewed annually or in response to changes in legislation.
